14th Annual Snowshoe Festival February 6

Come to Waterbury this Saturday February 6th to enjoy the 14th annual snowshoe festival put on by the Green Mountain Club.  This festival highlights one of Vermont’s most treasured past times.  Looking to get new gear?  Visit the free snowshoe demonstrations and gear displays or enter into the raffle for your chance to win a prize.  The festival will also give you the chance to experience some of the amazing trails with guided hikes to local peaks and trails, as well as nature walks, after which you can warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy great company!  Demo snowshoes available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Special activies for kids are scheduled.  Admission costs $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers, children under 12 are free!  Click here for directions and a full schedule of the 14th annual snowshoe festival.

TIPS FOR ENJOYING THE SNOWSHOE FESTIVAL

Think Snow – Dress in warm layers. Wear wool or synthetics under windproof clothing, hat and mittens. Bring plenty of food and water. In case of no snow, trips will run as hikes.

**Note: Area colleges, retailers and other local businesses provide free use of demo snowshoes throughout the day. Registration is the day of the event only. Sign-ups for trips and the use of snowshoes are on a first-come first-served basis.
